I got a flight for 170 from Los Angeles to Costa Rica in 2017. I booked 6 months in advance and then got a taxi into Nicaragua. I had to physically walk the boarder though. My whole trip was under $1000 and that was counting $600 for my hostel stays and on average $3 full meals

When she says, "return flight" is that "round trip"?

  7. Frank & Dee on June 8, 2020 at 5:58 pm

Great video. Some people just don’t know all of their options and which websites to use. They also probably listen to other people who tell them not to do it because it doesn’t sound right. I have seen very inexpensive trips to everywhere. Skyscanner is a great one because you don’t have to specify a date of travel. Also, people need to be flexible like you said. I live in Colombia now (traveling here for a year), but it’s super cheap to live here and it’s another world. I really liked this video!

this is literally exactly what i’m looking for right now, I would love if you do more budget trips based on US flights!

If you travel from the u.s. to other north American countries it’s not bad, but once you decide to leave the continent it gets really pricey.

  14. Erica Broderhausen on June 8, 2020 at 6:06 pm

From Boston to Aruba was $320… definitely not as cheap as it could be, but with $20-30 Airbnb’s, very reasonable.

Return flights? Is that the same as round trip?

  19. Frank & Dee on June 8, 2020 at 6:15 pm

Also, I found my ticket on Skyscanner. I purchased a one-way ticket and a onward ticket for much cheaper because I wasn’t sure when I would be leaving. I will watch the tickets with the app Hopper and purchase the ticket when the prices are lowest. My flight here was around $270 with two checked bags. I saw some for cheaper, but with no checked luggage.

If you go for the cheapest flights you will get a spirit or united flight typically, being 6’6 i can tell you munchkins that it really makes vacations hard mode if you have to fly and actually have room for your legs.

hubby and i just planned out of next euro trip. $575 includes round trip flight from california to oslo, oslo to budapest, budapest to berlin, berlin to krakow, krakow to brussels, and brussles back to oslo to catch our return flight to california. and we could have gone for less if i could get other days off from work. but alas. i work retail. cant take holidays off.

Hey! I am planning a big trip to England over this coming Summer. I was hoping to stay for a long time but money is an issue. I’ve been looking for option to stay at places for free. Do England hostels allow you to work/ volunteer for room and board? Is it worth getting a holiday work visa for England for tops 2 months? My worst fear is getting there and not finding a place to stay because it’s either booked or I run out of expendable money. In this case I do often do lightweight camping in the US and have gear for it so would I be able to find easy cheap or free camping places? Am I allowed to just set up camp outside in the woods or something? Thanks!

  26. Tiara Thomas on June 8, 2020 at 6:20 pm

say you wanted to get a flight to mexico, basically one peso there is two dollars here, is it possible for you to wait to buy your return ticket once you have arrived there so the difference in currency will essentially cut your return ticket in half?

  27. alteredillusions100 on June 8, 2020 at 6:21 pm

In October 2016 I got LA to Bangkok $512 return.
On March 14 2017 I got LA to Bangkok $656 return. I leave on the 19th good last minute price

  28. qemdrive on June 8, 2020 at 6:22 pm

I researched taking a return trip from Pittsburgh to London. I found that I could literally slash the price in half by suffering the 8 hour bus ride to Toronto

The way I travel super cheap is thru Bluskydeals.com well at least for flights. Last year I went to Maui for 233 roundtrip and I compared the same identical flight with expedia and not kidding same exact flight/date/time was 780 roundtrip BOTH COACH

  33. babygirlsimone5 on June 8, 2020 at 6:25 pm

Not everybody conveniently lives on the east coast when booking to Europe, or in Hawaii when trying to book to Japan….

From New York to Dublin, Ireland. I’m trying to do the opposite. Prices are unbelievable for the most part haha!

  40. Ghh on June 8, 2020 at 6:30 pm

These are not round trip correct?

  41. RSteegstra on June 8, 2020 at 6:33 pm

There is a ferry service from Miami to the Bahamas, $73 round trip.. Saves you another $146 😊

  42. Realms Media on June 8, 2020 at 6:34 pm

With these cheap flights, one also needs to take into consideration that these prices are only found in the low seasons and the flights are sometimes tripled in length. It often comes down to the whole idea of "you get what you pay for." Thank you for the informative post!

  43. Jordan Ross on June 8, 2020 at 6:37 pm

Is it cheaper to once you visit a country from America, to then fly to another country from that country if that makes since? Like if u go from Boston to Ireland, then Ireland to Greece. Would it be cheaper that way? Lol 🙂 love your videos btw!

  44. Wander the World on June 8, 2020 at 6:37 pm

I know this is UK > USA but I’ve just booked a flight from London to Oakland near San Fran for £180 one way including baggage, which is ridiculously cheap!! I’d seriously recommend checking out Norwegian Air for cheap flights to London from the US cause it worked out cheap going the other way!

I flew to Florida from Michigan this week $77 round trip, simply call Toll free no.+1 844-227-7517 ** speak with a travel agent who will find you the best cheap flights for your travel plans**

  49. Tamrha Echols on June 8, 2020 at 6:41 pm

November 2018, I was able to get round trip tickets from DFW to Dublin, Ireland for about $600/per person. This April I’m flying out to Croatia for $620, that’s with taxes and everything included. People I know are genuinely surprised when they find out how much I spend on flights because they always assume that I’m spending way more. I know people who spend more flying across the country! It’s completely doable.
