I loved my first trip up in the High Country Mountains so much that I came right back with a friend! I talked to Perry Peacock from Wilderness Innovation into an adventure to Lost Lake. This epic trip would include a challenging off Road Drive to the trail head. I tried to keep my pack as ultralight as possible, but still took some luxury items such as my GSI pivot spatula and bugaboo frying pan so that I could Cook trout as our main food source. Luckily we did have pretty good luck fishing and caught one brook trout for dinner and another for breakfast which I cooked on the Gen2 Folding Firebox Nano Ultralight Backpacking Stove. I used a Trangia alcohol Burner as my heat source to cook dinner. Then in the morning I burned wood in the Swedish fire torch pre-fueling set up to once again cook for the two of us. We caught a few more Brook trout, which we released since we would start hiking back to the 4X4 soon.

Thank you so much for watching, commenting, liking, sharing and subscribing!

Cheers everyone!

Love the videos, hoping to get my own firebox stove this month for my birthday as well as a boulder mtn. Fly fishing trip. My father and grandpa would take me to boulder all the time when I was younger and I’ve missed that area over the years. Are most the 4×4 roads still fairly drive-able or are many now washed out? Also I noticed in many of your videos you use the same wood to cook what kind is it?

Are the hash browns frozen or freeze dried? I understand you’re always in colder climates and have wondered this.

Awesome vid. I drive the same type of roads to backpacking in Idaho and would recommend the toyo Open Country 6 ply tire for Bulletproof Backcountry driving.

When you cook the fish this way can you peel all the bones out at once? I only ever fillet trout, I knew you could peel after cooking, but is it any better?

I still wonder why you skin your fish. Crispy fish skin is the best. Scales and all. With a squeeze of lemon. Looks like a great trip. Awesome fish. Great video.

  39. Josh Ethan Johnson on December 16, 2019 at 5:31 am

love the show man! I’m sure you’ve answered lots of questions about this but just wanted to put my vote in to see how you dispatch, clean and prepare all the fish you catch. Death is part of life after all. thx for the hard work.

  40. Heljos 24 on December 16, 2019 at 5:32 am

Love the old T100 toyota man. Proves you don’t need something fancy to get places. Just a reliable engine, some good rubber, and a 4×4 system.

  41. Gideon Bullock on December 16, 2019 at 5:32 am

you should have your own cooking channel.

  43. Jolly Joel on December 16, 2019 at 5:35 am

Is this Washington State’s Lost Lake? If so where’d you clean your fish at?

  44. Timothy Thompson on December 16, 2019 at 5:36 am

    Great to see

    "Eric Normark"

and his channel feature your stove!

Maybe a violation of some type to include, but enjoy his content, sensibilities to the natural world, camp set up, locations, glimpse of that part of the world and his general approach to what he includes and doesn’t include

… and a kettle that has a story to tell…

    —–
and your reference to your "Swedish fire torch"… well just sayin…
