I ordered all the equipment from your site, in the battery box video you don’t show where the inline fuse goes?

  2. Richard NZ on June 11, 2020 at 5:46 pm

the tread sticker video was awesome so was this im doing the same battery thing now – but I thought I should say maybe it is better to get two cigarette ports and use a usb insert due to samsung and iphone spitting the dummy over non approved chargers

  3. Podobed on June 11, 2020 at 5:49 pm

Outstanding video. Absolutely love it. I am not the DIY guy especially when it comes to electrical but this very easy to follow. Love the channel and I’ll be visiting frequently as I just got my first fishing kayak! If you ever fly fish, let me know and I’ll throw some bad ass smallie/largemouth and pike flies your way!

Hey man, fyi. Uni bits (step bits) are great for drilling plastic. They leave a very clean edge. The harbor frieght 3 pack is actually pretty good too. I’ve drilled 1/2” plate steel with the largest one in the pack and it still cuts fine. I enjoy the videos. 👍

  5. brad hazeldine on June 11, 2020 at 5:50 pm

I would have used the other end on the lead from the battery so the positive is insulated when not in use

  6. Damien Clark on June 11, 2020 at 5:51 pm

Instead of crimp connectors they make low temp solder shrink connectors, they have adhesive in them as well which will aid in waterproofing. Just a suggestion though if the crimps are working for you then no need to change

  7. Jeffrey Cook on June 11, 2020 at 5:52 pm

Have you thought about adding solar panel to the battery or going with a 12 volt 12 amp battery

  8. Jason Rowland on June 11, 2020 at 5:56 pm

Nice job. Next time use a hole saw, it’s a much cleaner cut in the plastic and easier to control.

  9. Driggs11 on June 11, 2020 at 5:56 pm

After a year how is this holding up,

  10. Mark Murphy on June 11, 2020 at 5:59 pm

Your videos are easy to follow. I just bought the Brooklyn 13 Pedal drive and am getting it ready for the spring. I have the Battery box done (Another great video) You never link the inline fuses. Just curious what I need for safety. I have USB/LIGHTER ports, depth finder, and lights. So thinking I need inline fuses. Can I tie everything into the one battery, or should I get a second battery. Current battery is 12V 10ah battery.

What charger are yall using for batteries like this?

  14. STEVEN O'BRYAN on June 11, 2020 at 6:01 pm

Great video, I like your teaching ability, two things i would add is a fuse to the battery, and an on/off switch, to conserve the battery energy. Thanks keep up the great work, Kayak on.

  15. Mongerz on June 11, 2020 at 6:04 pm

Hey…might be a stupid question, but how do you charge your battery box?

Great job, I’d say adding a Fuse is something I wouldnt hae left out.

  20. TheForestorTrees on June 11, 2020 at 6:08 pm

Is there a DIY on how and where to add a fuse? The installation guide says to add one.

  21. Joel P on June 11, 2020 at 6:09 pm

Another good video. I know it’s a year old , but the reason I’m watching is I’m getting a Jackson Cuda 14 . Step up from the Walmart Kayak that I purchased first to see if I would enjoy it . Well needless to say I do. A lot of the mods you have done is what I want !

  22. Peter Chessell on June 11, 2020 at 6:10 pm

you would have been better off with a hole saw those speed bits are hard work on anything other than wood. Proper good vid though,

  23. Osmosis Jones on June 11, 2020 at 6:14 pm

    Great Video!

  24. syntar53 on June 11, 2020 at 6:15 pm

    Excellent !!
Question…. why do you connect SAE red cable to black in your camera install and white to red?
    Very thorough videos
    Thanks

  25. XxsteamerxX on June 11, 2020 at 6:17 pm

Great vid. One point of note: It’s always a good idea to make that hot lead go to the covered half of the plug so If I were you I would have used the other half of the extension cable on the battery. That way when you are moving stuff around or anything, you don’t have a live end exposed.Just thought. It’s nice that Kayaks are plastic so there’s not as much concern, but you never know when and where that thing rubs against earth ground.

  26. Liam Gibson on June 11, 2020 at 6:19 pm

were you worried at all about heat being an issue with the battery

  27. Paul Burns on June 11, 2020 at 6:20 pm

Any advice on using a solar battery maintainer on this? I like to be on the river all day, camp at night, sometimes gone for 4 to 5 days at a time.

  28. Truth in th Word on June 11, 2020 at 6:20 pm

Will that battery run a bulge and live well pump

  29. L A on June 11, 2020 at 6:21 pm

How do you charge the battery? Can you use a small solar panel and plug it into the cigarette lighter to charge the battery and can you leave the solar panel plugged in while out fishing? If so, what is the best watts solar panel to get?

  30. Chuck Bareika on June 11, 2020 at 6:21 pm

I gutted a 12 Bosch charger and use it for my fish finder can run anything 12 volts I get 2 hrs continuous run Time per battery with a 5 inch screen

  31. momo5885 on June 11, 2020 at 6:22 pm

Hi, I wanted to know how to charge the battery and how many hours does it last?

  32. Beyond the Backyard on June 11, 2020 at 6:23 pm

So glad I have found your channel, you seem to find the perfect fit products for the job and point exactly where to buy them. Thanks.

    Hi there 👋
Was that the small or large size water tight orange box ??
    Thanks

  34. Darren Rutkowski on June 11, 2020 at 6:25 pm

I bought a different brand and it didn’t come with the the daisy chain, but seperate sets of cords and fuses. Is that something I’d be able to order online?

  35. Marc Lovell Asl on June 11, 2020 at 6:25 pm

    You Nailed this "DIY".
    Very Descriptive, and Succinct.

  36. Taylor Currier on June 11, 2020 at 6:26 pm

Does the battery come with a charger and if not which kind should I use?

  37. Christopher Bouchard on June 11, 2020 at 6:26 pm

How long does this battery last with a fish finder on it?

  38. G B on June 11, 2020 at 6:29 pm

You may be picky but try being OCD like myself lol, I wouldn’t want wire those sharp-a** screws sticking into my storage compartment if I could machine screws instead, not sure I’d even used the bezel actually..Idk how you got by with drilling holes without hitting the liner lol, .and yeah giving me anxieties with that uninsulated hot lead and lack of fuse.. enjoy all the videos! and hate to bust chops..but u do keep saying your picky lol

  39. Joses _Builds on June 11, 2020 at 6:30 pm

tip for next box use the connector end that has the hot wired covered instead of the open end. to keep it from arching off of things.

  40. Ruben Navegante on June 11, 2020 at 6:30 pm

    Thanks for the video

  41. Nathan Toburen on June 11, 2020 at 6:30 pm

What gauge wire did you use for the usb mount ?

  42. Rev. David Willerup on June 11, 2020 at 6:31 pm

Any trouble with the battery getting hot?

  43. Fishin on a Mission on June 11, 2020 at 6:31 pm

awesome im gona do this when i get a kayak.. . so the battery doesnt have to be right side up?

  44. Bill Holder on June 11, 2020 at 6:31 pm

I used a 12 volt solar panel from Bass Pro to keep my deer feeder charged and another one in the deer blind to keep a charge on the 12 volt battery being used for the lighting, USB ports and other 12 volt accessories in the deer blind. This solar panel was mounted on top of a PVC tube with mounting hardware, like flagpole mounts. Worked great. Just an idea for you to help keep charge on 12 v battery that way there is no need to remove the battery when charging. There are a lot of videos on YouTube doing Solar Charging for Kayaks, Canoes and Rafts. There are many types of panels, systems to choose from.
Check into installing a 12 volt solar panel for use on your kayak.

  45. matthew thompson on June 11, 2020 at 6:33 pm

Hey mate, watched a few of your videos and it’s helped me decide what I’d like to do with my kayak. Very helpful and descriptive. Im from Australia and the links in your bio aren’t working for me. What AH or Amp is the battery you’re using?

  46. John Kavanagh on June 11, 2020 at 6:34 pm

i would of put a on off switch on that so you can turn the display off so there is no drain on the battery when it’s not being used it will just make the battery last a little bit longer between charges

  47. Paul Mathews on June 11, 2020 at 6:37 pm

Awesome video and info links. Ordered most on the list. New kayak shows up Monday and I’ll be giving installing this setup right away

  48. Tryn2GoProBro Zach Webb on June 11, 2020 at 6:39 pm

I really like how you set that battery box up. Nice to have a voltmeter on deck. I’ve been looking at buying a kayak (3 waters big fish 120) and was looking into fish finders and lights. Really think the way you did that with the 5 way is what I’m looking to do. Thank you for the great tips.

  49. Jeff Torre on June 11, 2020 at 6:39 pm

great videos all the time, super detailed. one question, what size is the water tight box? Small or Large. Thanks

  50. Rich Dunn on June 11, 2020 at 6:39 pm

I madethat same battery box. I used PCs of foam wedged in to keep it still. I cut up one of the ones people’s use to kneel on when gardening. I put an inline fuse inside the box too.
