A Surprisingly Tense Battle Between a U.S. Sub and a Fishing Boat
A fishing trawler may seem like an easy target for a powerful U.S. submarine – but these were the early days of the Pacific War, and even Japanese civilian boats were armed to the teeth.

But, why did they attack a fishing boat?
Bruh that blue fin tuna fishing show got really competitive real fast
Such a boring american nationalist documentary
I tuned on the tv and saw a battle of small US fishing boat and it took place at night then they had a fire fight i think it was a German u boat. the fishing boat looked like it was rigged to patrol. Most crew were killed but managed to ram the sub and both sunk . I had to run out and i dont know what movie this was . Trying to search but nothing has come up. looks good. Can Anybody help
did they just put subtitles…oh no…history repeats…
i feel like a torpedo wouldve saved more time and lives
Japanese fishing trawler converted to a scout boat: Captain Imma go fish now.
American submarine: *rises from water*
Japanese fishing sailor: YOU SCARE THE FISHU AWAY! DIE!!
Americans: I am going to end this mans whole career.
Their tier 1 in naval battles
its sad the war started in the first place
When?
On this episode of deadliest catch
That’s the most aggressive fishing boat I’ve ever seen in my life
Deadliest catch return’s…..
Why didn’t they launch torpedo at the ship
the strategy of burlingame was faulty. If he wished to not waste a torpedo he should have stood at a range where machine guns would be ineffective since his gun could shoot 15,000 yards but probably a couple of miles to get out of effective machine gun range. I have read reports of these deck guns doing severe damage to much larger vessels.
Why do they do not use the 40mm Bofors?
Daka
Wow the Germans didn’t mind when their submarine torpedo our civilian ships
*Just a causal fishing boat here nothing to see*
3” .50 cal?
You can all visit USS Sliversides in Muskegon MI
Why was the US shooting at fishing boats??
I remember staying the night on the silversides years ago. Pretty cool experience.
Torpedo would have saved that man’s life.
It’s pretty bad if you’re operating a submarine and you can’t even sink a fishing boat.
Fire those pt boats
Actual storm-troopers in action
Sub vs. fishing boat? Should have called the ship the Kobyashi Maru.
Japanese with bren guns?
Never underestimate your enemy…
I need to see some shaving profiles
Deadliest Catch Season 2: Even Deadlier
Why were they attacking a fishing boat?
If I had been the skipper of that Sub I would have ignored that fishing boat altogether. After all, even if it had been an easy unarmed target it could still have radioed my position before I sank it and thus alerted the Japaneses Naval Command to my presence in the area. Bottom-line; I would have considered the risk to be far greater than any possible reward.
Rip
One thing I don’t understand. Why is the bomb shell very small???
So the u.s sub crew has store trooper aim
wow I didnt know 3in Bofors can shoot 3 rounds a minute! Thats crazy fast 😂
This is an example of the danger Iran’s rearmed speed boats posess
Nah not surprised
thee people shoot like stormtroopers
Why is it only raining on the Japanese side?
That was a catfishing boat
Is this a real battle?
A lot of Japanese vessels still need sinking, icr ones specially
So your calling it tense just because a Japanese boat had a good fight
Pros with smurf accounts be like
Should have used the torpedo, his decision cost a life
This reanactment looks like it costed 20 dollars
His big mistake was not saving a torpedo.. It was getting too close to the trawler.. The range of his Subs deck gun was way better then the machine gun on that trawler.. He could have sunk that boat from a longer range and the trawler crew would not have been able to retaliate in any way..
