    1) Staten (Island) in New York is pronounced STAT’n, rather than STATE’n. 2) Another reason for Chicago’s nickname "The Windy City" is because of the number of political "blowhards" there. 3) The predecessors to the Navajo (Anasazi) were ah-nah-SAH-zee, not
    ah-NASS-iss. 4) The body of water behind Hoover Dam is Lake Mead, not Mead Lake. 5) The river which meets the Euphrates (Tigris) in Iraq, as well as the site in Las Vegas, is pronounced TIE-griss, not TEA-griss. 6) Although it’s spelled the same as the cow thing that cowboys out West participate in, for some reason the street in Beverly Hills is pronounced row-DAY-oh Drive, rather than ROW-dee-oh. 7) You call a city of 100,000 (Santa Monica) a small town? That’s a stretch.
