Air Force Academy Fishing–Rainbow Catch and Cook

Great fall afternoon fishing at the lake. Looked like the trout were up on the bank spawning as noted by the sperm sacks I found after cleaning them. I took 2 good ones back to my room for dinner and had a delicious meal.

Fishing at the Air Force Academy:
There are 5 options. Deadmans, 3 Air Field Lakes, and Ice Lake. All are stocked with rainbows and Ive fished all 5. I personally don’t like the airfield lakes but I’ve only gone there once under bad conditions. Ice lake is decent and has a resident beaver. Deadmans is my favorite and the lake that I am best at fishing. There are numerous trout, a decent amount of crappie, a couple carp, and a population of minnows or some kind of roach. At all locations you are supposed to have a USAFA fishing permit and there is a 3 fish per day limit. All the other reservoirs and such bodies of water do not have fish in them.

Chris trout looks good! You’re making me hungry watching you cook the trout. Surprised the smell didn’t attract other cadets to your room!
    Nice spirit mission.
