Alligator Amblers Hike Sabal Palm Trail in Naples, FL.

Alligator Amblers Hike Sabal Palm Trail in Naples, FL.

Picayune Strand State Forest is deep in the heart of Big Cypress Basin in Florida. Several trails are available for hiking and biking like the Sabal Palm Trail. What an amazing ecosystem with scenic trails.
During the summer months this forest is underwater, so if you don’t want to go slogging through swampland, you may want to visit Naples during the dry season which is December thru March.
The Sabal Palm Trail will take you through pine flatwoods, wet prairies, lowlands, cypress strands, slash pines, and subtropical hammocks in the higher ground.
We hiked with the Florida Trail Association’s Alligator Amblers chapter of Fort Myers, FL. They have a variety of activities for their members such as hiking, kayaking, biking as well as weekend getaways. This chapter assists with maintenance of the Florida Trail’s southern most section in the Big Cypress National Preserve.
Fantastic group to hike with on an autumn day in Florida. Thanks to Carl our fearless leader!

Great hiking. The images from 10’ Stick we’re a bit unclear and it was hard to make out details. Try to slow your motions when panning so we can see what you are referring to. Hey Jo, did you get ‘unburred ‘ safely? 😎
