Mitch – I was in the stands during this game (in 5th grade). Hated that your TD at the end wasn’t allowed, as I’m sure you were as well. So cool to see this again!

Anyone know the reason why Permian QBs wear jersey numbers in the 20s? Is there meaning behind it or is it just tradition?

That was one hell of a way to clinch the victory. 💯🏈

To your early comment sir……..Those Odessa kids always had a lot of pressure on them….They played with high expectations and urgency

The rules were different back then and you were not allowed to advance a fumble in High School football. I don’t think it was a good rule but I was also a French Buffalo and can’t complain, this was one for the ages and a very good game. Nobody gave us a chance to even be here and we proved them wrong. Hats off to Odessa Permian for never giving up. Co-Champs!

What kind of rule back in 1984 says you can’t return an offensive fumble at the end of the game? Permian won that game 27 to 21.
