What is the painted building that you are standing in front of in San Antonio?

Some things you should do on your day trip to Fredericksburg.

    1. Johnson Ranch about 20 miles east of Fredericksburg.
    2. Enchanted Rock State Park 15 miles north of Fredericksburg. 2nd largest granite monolith in the USA. Think Stone Mountain in pink and without the commercialism
    3. Wimberly. On the way to Fredericksburg, but you’ll need to make it a point to be there.
    4. Caverns of Sonora. 80 miles west of Fredericksburg. Unbelievable formations. Easily the best cave I’ve ever seen.
    5. Luckenbach. If you’re in to country music, this is the place for you.

In fact, you need to plan to spend the night in Fredericksburg. Very cool place.

Otto’s German Bistro in Fredericksburg is a must, gotta make reservations though and it’s expensive but worth every penny. Also New Braunfels is Mid Size City not a small town so if you want that real German vibe definitely head out to Fredericksburg.

Go to H-E-B/Central Market when visiting Texas.

Buc-ees chopped BBQ brisket sandwich was a staple of our two winters as Winter Texans. And, HEB. And Whataburger

  8. IthinkImLoveStoned on November 19, 2022 at 8:43 am

Make a trip down to the tip of Texas, the Rio Grande Valley. The Mexican food is authentic and it won’t break the bank.

  9. mjfletch5737 on November 19, 2022 at 8:48 am

Ft. Worth has it hands-down over Dallas. If you only have time for one, go to Ft. Worth.

  10. Tiax on November 19, 2022 at 8:49 am

Hi, Mark & the gang. Olis joskus kiva käydä Teksasissa.

  11. Shar on November 19, 2022 at 8:50 am

Lol as a Texan I love that you fit Whataburger in here at the end😂😂💀!! Also if you come during the the holidays going to The Dallas Galleria Mall is nice if you enjoy the ‘tis the season’ type atmosphere. That Southern hospitality is real strong out here so don’t be surprised if someone ask you “hey, how’s it goin?!” Then stops to listen to how it’s REALLY going with you💀💀😂 I think no matter how fast pace life can get it’s never too fast not to spark up a conversation and possibly make a new friend for southern folks🤷🏽‍♀️😅

Great video! I love how happy you get talking about Texas haha. As a Texan and fellow traveler, there is so much to do in Texas. I’m not sure if you’ve explored West Texas much, but I definitely recommend staying at El Cosmico in Marfa, hiking at Big Bend National Park (Boquillas Canyon Trail is my favorite – it’s right along the Rio Grande River and the other side is Mexico!), Monahans Sandhills State Park, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park! Also on the Gulf Coast, Padre Island National Seashore is amazing and so is Port Aransas! Biplane Rides over Mustang Beach is a MUST! In the Panhandle, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is incredible and you have to do the Lighthouse Trail! I live in the Hill Country and it’s the perfect spot for exploring Texas haha. Hope you like these recommendations! 💗

Great video! I feel like a fun Texan thing to add would be a college football game in the fall 🙂

  15. NelsonClick on November 19, 2022 at 8:55 am

Hey world. Everything this guy just said is spot on accurate. He hit every high point of the places he mentioned. The good stuff. No omissions. He’s really good. Bucees (New Braunfels) is so cool. I hate that I like it so much but they have everything and it’s so well run. Good bathrooms, lots of food and where you get gas if you’re in the area.

Please, don’t come here. You won’t like it…

  28. PhantomOfDarkness on November 19, 2022 at 9:08 am

I think I understand the reason why you decided to film with that building in the backdrop for your Dallas location: because that brick building almost has a euro inspired type of architectural design to it at 7:20. at least it kind of looks like it to me!

  29. Greg Krekelberg on November 19, 2022 at 9:08 am

Fredricksburg is the birthplace of Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz. That’s why the National Museum of the Pacific War is there. There’s a lot to learn there!

I don’t think Nimitz gets nearly enough credit for his leadership in WW2. That guy had to manage an almost impossible set of pressures during the war. (Yes, Eisenhower did too. Though he didn’t have to manage MacArthur constantly trying to eat at his command.)

Wow what a great roster of locations! I live in San Antonio, am from Fredericksburg, and JUST visited Galveston!! I’ll drop my own recommendations for those 3 cities/towns:

San Antonio is where I live now and has a ton of great stuff you already mentioned but another one is the Brick at Blue Star Art Complex which is exactly what it sounds like. A bunch of art galleries next to each other plus a big warehouse that serves as kind of a dance/concert hall, market venue or an art installation venue, or all 3! Visit on the First Friday of the month to see a bunch of cool art and vendors! The best part: pretty decent amount of FREE parking, AND a really great cafe on the same lot called Halcyon. Outdoor seating, affordable yummy food, great drinks. I have never had a bad experience at this cafe going there for 5 years! I’d also recommend the San Antonio Museum of Art and the McNay but sadly they’re not close together like Houston’s museum district.

For Fredericksburg (hometown), my favourite place to get German or Tex-mex breakfast was Old German Bakery on Main Street. Best sausage kolache ever, good migas, lively and kind of rowdy atmosphere depending on what time you go (they get REALLY busy so plan for that), and it’s pretty affordable! Parking along main street can be a pain but there’s usually spots somewhere if you don’t mind a small walk. Also check out the Airport Diner if you’re looking for an interesting dining experience; 1940s style diner situated right next to an airfield where you can watch small aircraft take off and land while enjoying some good food! I went there a lot as a teenager 🙂

As for Galveston, me and my partner stayed in an Airbnb that was right next to the beach and we had a fantastic time! People in Galveston are super friendly and helpful. I think our best dining experience was at Kritikos Grill on Seawall Boulevard! Awesome staff, great food – I got the red snapper and it was sooo delicious! Buttery and flavorful. We didn’t make it out to the Pleasure Pier but our stay was still great!

So cool to see some of Texas on your channel! I started watching in 2019 right before I went on a study abroad to Italy before the pandemic and well, it didn’t pan out but your videos were super helpful 🙂 Hope this video helps trip planners and maybe this comment will too!

I live in Arizona and recently visited San Antonio and DFW recently and absolutely loved it. Went to the Riverwalk, Buc-ee’s, H-E-B, Stockyards in Fort Worth, Perot Museum, and the JFK Memorial. Much love for Texas hoping to visit Austin next for the Nightlife and Live Entertainment.

Here for the Europe content but I appreciate seeing a video on my home state. Houston traffic does suck! Almost as miserable as our summer heat.

I’ll be visiting Texas next week (11.9.22) and I’m left with just one question…WHY IN THE HEBREW IS TEXAS SO DAMN BIG?

  44. h lynn keith on November 19, 2022 at 9:23 am

6:33 "I actually like Fort Worth better." Yes! Fort Worth IS better. Dallas is banking and real estate. Fort Worth is cowboys and culture.

  45. Donald Hughes on November 19, 2022 at 9:24 am

We all know that Buc-ee’s is the best place to visit in Texas.

South Padre National Seashore…before the COVID had public sea turtle releases. It is a great place for Snow Birds. In opposition to Houston, it is less of a spaghetti bowl freeway with NO TOLLS. A good selection of small yet tasteful eateries. Many gastropubs with live music. Easy access centrally located. Good Texas folk. If drive to Mardi Gras there is one heck of a beach party and Parade on Padre Island! The timing allows you to party HERE and then HOUSTON and get to New Orleans!

  49. elena richani on November 19, 2022 at 9:30 am

Ohh that I know about the traffic I live in houston

  50. Katie on November 19, 2022 at 9:30 am

Fort Worth and Arlington are where it’s at! 😉😉
