what if I’m using a power drill to displace water and as a causal effect propel my kayak. Do I have to register my drill or my kayak?

In Puerto Rico, we had to register our pedal boat once we put the trolling motor on it, we follow the same laws than USA so Im guessing you need to register your kayak once you add a motor to it (electric or gas)

registration is required for my kayak in my state with a trolling motor. I usually play by the rules but not in this case, piss on them. Im not painting the side of my yak, i will pay the penalty every time.

I’m confuse. I register my kayak because it is required for kayak that are longer then 10 feet in my state. Is this the same thing as registering a kayak with a motor or are they both different?

Putting any motor on a kayak instantly makes it a power driven vessel under 16’ Remove the motor and leave it at home, it’s STILL governed by its registration.

fishyaker: Would a small pontoon fishing boat like a classic accessories Roanoke that is not rated for a trolling motor be able to be registered? I’m thinking about a DIY light weight motor and battery setup. I guess I’m trying to figure out if they normally look at any info besides the number for the boat. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.

It’s says in Ca if your water craft is larger than 8 feet you are required to register. Only if you are in a racing kayak without any accessories than you are no required .

I just talked to a DNR officer and here in Michigan yes you do even if it is only a trolling motor good for three years at around 20 dollars. the only exception is if no motor at all the canoe or kayak be less than 16 feet in length .
