True that ferrets were bred from polecats just as dogs were bred from wolves… but these aren’t actually ferrets. The Black Footed Ferret is actually an American Polecat. They’ve ALWAYS been wild animals.
this is a good thing: i love ferrets mine are domestic, of course. but we do many things to keep them close to there primal instincts, like hunting for food that we lay around the garden but to also build there own tunnel system for them to go and keep there food away from other animals such as cats. we have many cats that come and go especially mice.

Black footed ferrets are NOT domesticated, in any way. They are simply called a "Ferret" Because they are closest genetically to the domesticated ferret. The ferrets you can buy in the petstore would die out in the wild. They have none of their instincts, and have to be taught how to kill. Pet ferrets are extremely different from the black footed ferret.
