HOW FISHING RODS ARE MADE – in the USA!

Check out how graphite fishing rods are made in the USA! Cashion Rods is based in Sanford, North Carolina and they make their rods start to finish right here in the United States of America. Matt Cashion, the owner of Cashion Rods, walks John Crews through how they make a graphite fishing rod.

What about rods that you can see the weave of the carbon fiber? Some people think that a $50 1st gen carbon fiber rod from 1990 that is simply clear coated, is better than an equivalent action $50 “blank” (whatever that means) made in 2020. Please address this in another video. What if I don’t want a painted 2019/2020 “composite” rod and like the look of the 1990 visible carbon fiber weave?

Need to fix the description… Cashion Rods is based in Sanford, NC, not Stanford. They’re just south of where I live.

Also, great video! Looks like I will be getting my first Cashion rod at the fishing expo next week!

    Did I enjoy this video?

    Absolutely!!!

Seems like everyone is in the rod making business and they are all around $220+/ea. Disappointed that Cashion Rods can’t get the price point down to $150! They would certainly dominate the market place vice catering more to niche market for more elite anglers. That’s why box retailers who sell bulk (Lews, Abu Garcia, Duckett, etc.) can get price down to more manageable price using cheaper labor overseas!

so much cringe in the setup. IF you are gonna setup an intro just write a script, its not hard.

I love Cashion. I live maybe a mile and a half away from the factory and used to go to church in the same building!

These rods are killer, BUT quality control can be better. I own 4 Cashion rods. The 2 John Crews series I have were perfect from the get go. Guides nice and straight, solid looking rods. The last 2 Cashions I have got haven’t been the same. The first rod was an elite series. Guides terribly crooked. Drove me insane. Candace at customer service sent me a replacement and all was well. I then ordered a custom rod from them. On this one the tip was badly crooked and when you look down the blank the tip section curves to the right. I can understand things happen but when 50% of my rods from 1 company have these issues it’s unacceptable. Both of the rods with crooked guides/blanks shouldn’t have left Cashion. Can’t believe someone “checked” these rods over and gave them the green light. Very frustrating.

Made in the u.s.a.means costs more money…no offence. If u could see how most brands of rods are made you would see it’s all basically the same.Shakespere ugly stik for 39.95 is as tough a rod as it gets and it’s been proven over and over and did i mention 39.95.

  25. Fish NE Where on June 11, 2020 at 6:48 pm

Glad I stuck around. Thought it was going to be just throwing reel seats and guides on a blank. Mad respect that they roll their own blanks.

  26. Chad S on June 11, 2020 at 6:49 pm

I recently picked up two Cashion spinning rods. Balance and sensitivity are very nice and they are parked in the boat next to a GLX and St Croixs’. I’ll Probably be adding more.

  27. Donald Stephensen on June 11, 2020 at 6:49 pm

I’m looking for a 7’ultra light trout rod.

  28. Kevin Blackmon on June 11, 2020 at 6:51 pm

  29. Chris Stockner on June 11, 2020 at 6:52 pm

It’s awesome seeing how my favorite rod’s are mad. Visiting their facility is on my bucket list. I currently own 15 Cashion rod’s and saving to get one of them fancy Crew’s Missile square bill rod’s.

I have 4 cashion rods. Absolutely, absolutely.

  32. Tony Lor on June 11, 2020 at 7:01 pm

Companies like Cashion definitely deserve more popularity than the companies that simply slap their names on imported China rods, aka “favorite fishing”.

  33. Rick&Gayle Atkinson on June 11, 2020 at 7:06 pm

Hope this guy is a better fisherman than he is as a tour guide. Dumb as a sack of hammers.

  34. Kyle Lee on June 11, 2020 at 7:06 pm

  50. IAM Crankinstein on June 11, 2020 at 7:23 pm

I did not realize they did the whole process in US. Thought they just put guides on like every other rod that says made in USA. I 100% will purchase one for my next rod.
