Hunter's Big East Texas Buck!

Hunter's Big East Texas Buck!

Hunter has worked really hard to get access to some really good land in Texas and found success on a big Texas buck early in November! Deer hunting is tough sometimes, getting the wind right, access, concealment, angle and placement… everything has to come together to fool a wise old buck, especially in East Texas and Hunter has done it again!

I screwed up an opportunity in Nacogdoches county on probably a 140" on a spot I found just last year. No feeder or plot he was just moving through the bottom.. I never even got the shot off.. I ignored everything to do with hunting for a week lol CONGRATS SIR!

That clicking starting at 5:09 of the video is that the buck clicking or you moving the camera 📷 mounting brackets? Because I know Bucks also making a very low clicking sound similar to that.
Harold Knight & David Hale or
Knight and Hale hunters and innovators of Game calls, was the first to capture that clicking on hunting videos back in the early-mid 1990’s. They capitalized on that sound and innovated a deer grunt snort wheeze call that would also make that clicking or clucking sound.
My opinion the Knight and Hale deer and turkey calls: ARE STILL BY FAR THE BEST ON THE MARKET. Just my opinion but trust me they work.
U can see Knight and Hale capture that clicking or light buck clucking sound on the Knight and Hale hunting season 1995 or 1996 videos on Youtube! I had those old video’s on VHS 📼 tapes. Now I’m telling my age hahaha 😂. But they’re great videos for hunters to watch still to this day. Although I’m probably 15+ years older than Michael Waddell & I’ve spent the day with Michael before. He’s passionate about deer hunting even more so if Turkey 🦃 hunting. Michael said Knight and Hale was his idols growing up. And Since then Michael was asked to carry the Torch or a partnership of the Knight and Hale game calls business by them.
Since Knight and Hale are up in age now, but their videos is still packed with lots of deer hunting tips and Knowledge to make you a more successful hunter. I personally learned a lot from 50 years in the woods & 43 just as a deer hunter, but I learned a lot also from Harold and David. They’re older classic videos but still to this day awesome hunting videos and a wealth of information and knowledge to the inspiring hunters out there!!!!
I Still wanna know if that clicking was coming from the Buck or you ???? Just curious.

  15. Floyd Dowell on February 5, 2023 at 12:55 pm

Since the wind wasn’t in your favor, can you share what clothes and scent covers you use? I’m chasing a buck now where it is hard to ever have the wind in my favor for very long due to the impact of the hills and valleys and thermals.

All But missed him ! Wow bro a neck spine shot dropped him dead in his tracks, they cannot take that neck spine or spine being severed with a broad head! Congratulations 🍾🎉! Whether with bullet or broad head there’s 2 places on most big game animals that drops them paralyzed dead every single Time: Spine and right behind or into the ear into the brain 🧠! I’ve seen one this opening day run ungodly amount of yards even with their hearts completely obliterated but never with a spine or brain shot.
As a matter of fact November 13th 2021 just over a week ago I took my grandson hunting. First time I’ve seen him in 6 years due to custody circumstances with his parents Beyond my control, but that’s beside the point. But fortunate I am to get to teach My grandson the art and technique of deer hunting!
He’s a big boy 16 years old now and as big as his paw paw now. He’s on the school Bow Team and on the school rifle competition team shooting against other schools in competition & he’s really good! I & his dad my son was teaching him to shoot a BB Gun at 4 years old and he was phenomenal for that age. During his absence from us he had been hunting some on and off unsuccessfully with his step dad. But opening day of deer season this year I put him in the stand with me with my 300 Win Mag. a doe come out and she jetted and then another what we thought to be another doe stepped out and he said can I shoot it Paw Paw, I said since you’ve never shot a deer go ahead. Grandson is left handed and he took that right handed 300 & made a perfect behind the shoulder shot, the deer turned & ran back into the woods. It was early morning and cold 🥶 so we sit the box stand to wait on anything else that might show.
Two hours later at 9:00 AM we get down to go find his deer and the deer had zig zagged thru the woods and then into a growing up cutover. That blame deer had ran 200 yards bleeding and stopping bleeding and bleeding again. Took me and him a hour to successfully track down that deer. When we found it it was a perfect heart shot and where that 300 came out you could’ve put your fist 🤛🏻 in the hole 🕳. Turns out it wasn’t a doe but a Button buck with thumb size nubs not even breaking the skin yet. But It was legal in our state and he was excited to have killed his first deer. We skinned him out and the heart was completely gone, just disintegrated. But yet he ran on adrenaline 200 yards and we found him on a hillside on his way into a creek! That just goes to show that those animals are tough and anything can happen. I think the boom 💥 of that 300 Mag scared that deer so bad that his nerves, brain and adrenaline carried his body that far. Had that been with a bow and arrow 🏹 I do not think he would’ve went 40 yards before laying down and dying immediately. But that Buck was running stone dead on what brain 🧠, nerves and adrenaline was still working with no heart in him. I’ve been deer hunting 43 years now since I was a teenager and I’ve never had that personally happen to me before until then. Although I’d heard other hunters tell the same story of a stone Dead adrenaline rush deer run like that. I’m a believer now that can and does happen from time to time.
But good shot on dropping that buck brother, no tracking is much better than having to track one down. 😁👍
I’ve also got a camo cowboy 🤠 hat similar to the one you was wearing that I’ve been wearing just for hunting for 25+ years now. I call it My lucky 🍀 Buck going Down Hat.
    😁👍
