Hey Eric, I like what you are doing. I’ve been doing the same thing for 20 years, combing state land 1-2 hours from Rochester, NY. I camped there at Ossian State Forrest on the site across the pond. It was beautiful. Its an easy hike-in and the best of the 3 free sites. I would like it if…. in addition to giving coordinates but to say where you are. ie: what road, town or state forest your in. Have you tried Finger Lakes Natl Forrest?

It’s so cool seeing someones else’s perspective on areas I used to be in and around daily. I always enjoy seeing you and Jax hanging out around the country, but especially in a big slice of my home area.

Sorry you went through a lot of drama after this episode, but I prefer seeing you happier. Actually, seeing you so down started to wear on me. Nevertheless, we all go through good times and bad. I’m trying to embrace my ups and downs. YOu do the same. But, don’t give up. Your filming and editing are good.

By the way, this photo of me was taken on New Year’s Eve in Nelson, New Zealand last year when I was on my own adventure.

Winters are rough and summers are rougher. Welcome to NY! Ninety in NY is not bad now 95 and that humidity is really tough. Pretty though ain’t it?

  26. Kiona M on March 18, 2020 at 12:59 pm

Not many people outside NY realize there are hundreds of NYS forests managed by the DEC and most have free camping. Go to http://www.dec.ny.gov and click on the region (1-9) that you want to camp in. You’ll find a list of state forests by county within that region, each of which have their own page listing the activities and the camping parameters. Some are best left for tenters/pop-ups, most need no permit for at least 3 days but always check to be sure. If a permit is needed, just call that DEC regional office (or call them for more info on conditions in that state forest).

I was stationed at Fort Drum, north of Syracuse, and lived in the Syracuse metro for a few years after. If you end up that way again, I suggest the beginning of September. The autumn colors will be coming in, the apple orchards will be open for picking, and you may still find a roadside ice cream stand open.

  28. Ken C on March 18, 2020 at 12:59 pm

First time viewing. Love Jax and the harness, LOL. I have a harness and leash for my cat too. Does he mind having you with him in his RV all the time, LOL? I’m in western NY state and will check that Freecampsites.net site as well as more of your videos. Thanks.

  42. Warren O. on March 18, 2020 at 1:15 pm

This is my neck of the woods and that tent site used to be my favorite. Sadly a lot of logging has been going on in the area and looks nothing like that anymore. Dansville is my home town, was totally caught off guard seeing my little town on a fairly popular channel. The pond is called horseshoe/beavers pond. Anyways, love the vid and you’ve earned a sub!

  43. Jo Car on March 18, 2020 at 1:16 pm

You are in a really hot year. Even in Quebec,Canada the 90 + days just won’t quick with the humidity on top. We are 1,300 miles north of New York

  44. Replicators on March 18, 2020 at 1:17 pm

@Nomadic Fanatic – Someone need’s to check out Palmer’s pond aswell, place i want to go but have not found any videos of it. I also used to live in washington state and that is the one difference between the east coast and west coast is the plant life is different.

  49. W S on March 18, 2020 at 1:23 pm

Eric, I might be wrong, but I think you’re one of the most subbed channels for this type of content. (vehicle/rv living on the road) Which is pretty cool. Haha Always love your editing and also that you give a ton of helpful information about the places you visit. Keep up the great work!
