Living Rent-Free at Ehrenberg, Arizona

Living Rent-Free at Ehrenberg, Arizona

No matter how tight your budget, if you can eliminate the cost of housing and live rent or mortgage free instead, the quality of your life is going to go up dramatically! It might seem unbelievable, but you can do just that. In this series of videos I’ll show you many places where you can live for free, or for very little.

In this video we’ll take a look at the little town of Ehrenberg, Arizona where you can camp on BLM land and not have to worry about the 14 day limit. You can have as much privacy as you want, or many people around you, the choice is yours.

No matter how cheap your budget, you can learn something from this video about how to turn your car, van, caravan or RV into a surprisingly cheap mobile, tiny house on wheels! Then you can live the life of your dreams by adopting a minimalist, simple and frugal life of travel as a gypsy, nomad, traveler or even a prepper by dropping out of the Rat Race and becoming a full-time Vandweller or RVer!

In an earlier video you talked about being afraid of the coyotes that threatened the safety of your dog Cody. Which national parks, BLM territories, etc will allow people to erect their own temporary anti-coyote fencing or similar barrier? I’m thinking of something along the lines of a tall dog fence to block their encroachment onto a person’s camp site.

But what does one do every day? One must have some kind of meaningful activity each day simply because watching TV is poisonous.

Well done! I was just wondering about where here in AZ to go with a trailer and truck. Good info for anyone who is learning about how to do this "boon-docking" stuff. I live in Az now and just found Bob’s videos. 60yrs old and starting on this new "trek" of RV life. Nice to see so many of my compatriots going through the same stuff in life. Thank you Bob. Your videos are full of practical stuff for every day life.

How do you manage your firearm crossing through Canada to Alaska?

  23. John Chambers on March 1, 2020 at 11:43 am

NIce videos! When your in those Desert areas during the winter months, do you still have to keep an eye out for Rattlesnakes or Scorpions? Do you keep a Snakebite kit handy? I personally hate hot, desert heat. I hate the humid heat of Texas too. Where can one camp with at least moderate temps for most of the year before they need to relocate? Thank you sir!

Here in the UK we have a very active Van-life community, and as our little Island is less than a thousand miles from one end to another, it is very easy to wander from the South to Scotland in one day. I too have a Van, it is very comfortable, it has all the ‘mod cons’ but is ‘stealthy’ Large RV’s (as you call them) We call them Motor-homes, are not welcome in Scotland mainly because the roads are too narrow and the bridges too low, but you can park anywhere in the Scottish Highlands for free. unless you go on a designated Camping Site, I do have a large House and land but love the freedom my ‘Sprinter gives me, I usually start in the South Wales Coastal roads and work my way North, stopping to see special paces like York Minster or Stonehenge, I am Scottish so spend my winters in the Highlands. Where we differ from the States is that it very rarely goes down below minus 4, or above 80 degrees anywhere in the country. There is no wildlife to harm us, not deadly insects or snakes, no dangerous plat-life. We don’t get Hurricanes or tornadoes or earthquakes, food is good quality and cheap, most farms sell produce as you pass them on your travels, Petrol (Gas) is costly here, about $2 a liter, so about ten dollars a gallon. but it’s rare to get an engine over 3 liters, although my P38 Range Rover is 4.8 liter, which does about 8 miles to the gallon, the Sprinter does about 23 MPG, which is manageable, Like Bob I have solar and two leisure batteries, so never have to use a generator, but I do have a full oven and do cook full meals including roasts. It is a wonderful life of freedom and we too have an annual meeting, Camp Quirky, the one this year was limited to 2 thousand people and 800 ‘Vans’ because of space but is already sold out for next year. As Bob says, Freedom is Happiness and Happiness and Freedom are Everything.

what a wonderful video! thank you!

  42. George Loveless on March 1, 2020 at 11:53 am

Are you allowed to ride ATVs there?

  43. Jimmy Jennings on March 1, 2020 at 11:56 am

I just hope it doesn’t somehow get screwed up by people that do ignorant things, like drugs or other types of breaking the law or not cleaning up after themselves, the reason I say this is that I’ve seen very good situations like this get taken away because of some that won’t follow simple and easy rules that will not make someone in local government want to put an end to it is all, don’t mess up a good thing please.

  44. C C on March 1, 2020 at 11:57 am
