I used to live not too far from there about eight miles on Burnt Store Road back before over development and urban sprawl took over and all of Southwest Florida became a tourist trap

I moved back to Florida for that Old Florida feel, and instead my sleepy town was seized by the Elite Communists.
I have been living in HELL!
That is so refreshing to see real Humans still exist down here.
    Refreshing video! Thank you.

Sir you should do voice over work or commercials or something. Your voice rocks. I am now craving beer or something from your voice. And I’m not much of a drinker, at all. LOL…:) I went and got me a bud and gulped it. LOL I wonder if Matlacha ( matt lachey ) is related to Nick Lachey? LOL

A couple of questions… where do you store all your video data? in the cloud what service, how much does it cost? what editing software do you use?

  35. Snook On the fly on May 9, 2020 at 4:35 pm

This is my hometown. Although it’s changed a bunch since I was a kid. It’s places like matlacha that are in my blood. I’ve never lived anywhere else and I’ll be dying here. I’m as proud a Southwest Floridian as they come. And if you get into southwest Florida history, it makes the Wild West look like child’s pla
    y. With all that said, you guys wouldn’t like it here though so try Naples or Venice lol.

"an almost equally uneventful drive" LOL – good job making SWFL look like crap jajaja

  41. Anniefanny Charles on May 9, 2020 at 4:42 pm

I live 5 miles from here and its one of the reasons I left New Jersey. It hasn’t really changed that much in 20 years. Except the bridge was rebuilt and the stores change now and then. It’s a little piece of heaven so please don’t move here unless you have a job (or can afford to live here regardless) and are respectful to all wildlife and our beautiful environment.

  42. antoniio caluso on May 9, 2020 at 4:42 pm

Don’t believe this! I live in SWFL & know Matlacha is little more than a parking lot for tourists. Ughhh…if you readers think this is worth a drive from some hectic Metro area, you REALLY should reconsider your lives! Its just a spot of land between a City whose existence caused the destruction of 1000s of acres of natural Florida in the ’50s

  43. Roberto Acosta on May 9, 2020 at 4:44 pm

    Nice video Robert. I subbed.

  44. Wendy Robertson on May 9, 2020 at 4:44 pm

I grew up on Pine Island. Walked, biked, rode horse back over nearly every inch of Matlacha, Little Pine Island, Pine Island and Useppa Island. Canoe, kayak and any other means of water travel around the Island and out lying protected islands. By far Cayo Costa Island is the best for over night camping if you have a boat. Rentals are available if you need to choose that route but there are several charter boats that will take you and pick you up for a fairly good price. My family still lives on the Island. Going home is always at low tide so you don’t ever forget that special smell of salt water. I love my home town.

  45. mary kopp on May 9, 2020 at 4:45 pm

I went there some years ago, you made my heart happy 😃 just to see it again, especially now that I’m ill.👍😇😇
