Out of all the cities I have ever been. I hate midland the most.

Rent is so high. There are no trees. It’s the worst.

Love your channel. I was looking for videos of the US, small towns in Texas and eksewhere in the sates and your channel came up. Just what l want. A non Hoolywood USA. A lot like Australia in many ways. God bless you both.

I’ve been living in Midland for a few years now and I have to say that there’s nothing else like it! We love our home sweet home!

Clean city, but the downtown area seems very brutalist. Not sure if it is the kind of place I’d personally want to live, but I can appreciate the efficiency. Austin and San Antonio are more my style. As for smaller towns, I’d say Boerne or Wimberley. I love the Texas Hill Country. Hope you do some videos in that area soon!

  11. Holly on February 24, 2023 at 6:03 pm

That old Impala was cool. The body type reminds me of my 1965 Mercury Comet, long and sleek. I bought it in 1973 and even though it was 8 years old, it had a showroom finish. The interior was perfect, too. Midnight blue with a baby blue interior. Bucket seats with a console. They say guys cars are chick magnets sometimes. Well, my car sure got the guys attention. Didn’t see that one coming, lol. It just happened to be the only transportation I could afford at the time.
Midland is a beautiful city. So impressed with the lack of litter!

  26. S P on February 24, 2023 at 6:28 pm

Yeah and Midlanders are also tired of the influx of outsiders moving here crowding up our traffic.

  27. Brian Long on February 24, 2023 at 6:30 pm

Cool video! I think you missed quite a bit of Midland though. I’ve been here 12 years and can say Midland definitely grows on one. Btw, it’s Theeeeee Bar. Happy New Year!

  28. anglea on February 24, 2023 at 6:30 pm

Desert excuse me actually yeah sorry I live in Midland I kind of forgot it’s desert

  29. Devin Davis on February 24, 2023 at 6:30 pm

If you went out off the 250 loop you would see the nice side of town.

  30. Sean Ramirez on February 24, 2023 at 6:32 pm

And you would go through the old ugly side of town. All the new stuff is north west of the old down town. That empty building has been vacant for well over a decade. It’s scheduled for demolition. The park is the area where the courthouse once stood. The Yucca is known for Summer Mummers. It’s too bad that you didn’t catch a show.

  31. Blankerism on February 24, 2023 at 6:35 pm

I was born in Odessa back in ’81. my parents came from the Rio Grande Valley and followed job opportunities in the medical field towards the tail end of the of 70s oil boom. Odessa was known as a blue collar town where as Midland was known as the white collar city (reason why you see the skyline and none in Odessa) One of the downtown buildings that you showed i could of sworn was going to be demolished sometime this year. The Western United Life building, the one that had the marble siding on the ground level floor. When i visited Midland and Odessa in the 90s, downtown Midland looked in rough shape. Now with fracking going on throughout west and south Texas, downtown Midland looks like its been brought back to life from what i remember.

  32. Jose Delgado on February 24, 2023 at 6:37 pm

If your looking for work and stability without having a degree . Come to midland or Odessa vecause there’s plenty of work . Any questions feel free to ask . Lots of opportunities for everyone .

  33. Chance Of Grain on February 24, 2023 at 6:38 pm

Midland represent! Born and raised here. Not the most exciting place to live but definitely a good place to find work.

  34. Frank Scarborough on February 24, 2023 at 6:39 pm

Loved this video. It was fun to see the Bush’s home. Thanks

  35. Joey203 on February 24, 2023 at 6:39 pm

The thought of a city never seeing green grass is insane! I’m from Connecticut and this would be a complete change of scenery for me

Yo vivo en midland es muy tranquilo lo amo.

  37. Alfaphire on February 24, 2023 at 6:45 pm

I have lived in Midland for 9 years now, it isn’t terrible, the drivers suck, 1 flake of snow or a drop of rain and someone will find it and slide right into someone else. A large portion of the restaurants are good eating, and the shopping is pretty decent. Other than that, there is nothing to do here, any time someone brings it up in a public forum, the snobby locals chime in with "move somewhere else then" or something of that nature. I just dont understand why a place with such a booming economy and potential, has nothing to do but work, eat, and shop. Glad I can play golf, if it weren’t for that, I would have absolutely nothing to do.

  38. Carol Harmon on February 24, 2023 at 6:46 pm

Lord Spoda I have grown increasingly hooked on your videos. I would never get the chance to travel as you do but you have certainly widened my horizons. Thank you so much for all you do. Meanwhile I will travel with you no. matter where you go. I love your voice.

I lived in Midland in the 70s. My Dad’s job got transferred to Midland. I graduated from Lee in Memorial Stadium. I never thought Midland was very friendly. I am guessing it’s bc of so many people that are coming and going with their companies. I graduated almost 50 years ago and have never attended a reunion. Has Woody, Tommy, or Laura ever come to a reunion??? Lol. I bet they don’t come either…
At one time (I think) the divorce rate was higher than the national average… idk if that is still true.

I waited till the restaurant to comment,no one will read this but hey. If memory serves me right a Lil girl got stuck in a tiny well in the early 80s. It made nat news when they finally got her out. Kinda like Floyd Collins but with a happy ending

  44. Kevin Barry on February 24, 2023 at 6:51 pm

Fun fact, at one time in the 1980s, Midland had the most Rolls-Royce dealers in the world

  45. martinhousemuse on February 24, 2023 at 6:52 pm

You missed some of the really opulent mid century neighborhoods along Cuthbert and in the neighborhoods that aptly have streets named after various oil companies.

My mom’s family is from Middland/Odessa. My great grandparents Tisdale had a farm in Middland and some how oil became involved and the farm was sold. My mom grew up in Odessa.
