  4. Leah Cox on November 14, 2022 at 1:23 pm

Im glad i made time in my short life to trace these roads. Texas has everything! Im a transplant but i learned to drive in Houston so traffic and reckless drivers are a normal day. Im grateful for everyone ive met in tx…even assholes. Grateful for everything ive seen.

How about the road between Schulenberg and La Grange? That is one of my 4 top roads in the US. # 1 is Guanella Pass in Colorado, My # 2 road is Rte 666 between Endeavor, PA and Marienville, PA. # 3 is also in Colorado and runs from Carbondale to Marble and side trips to Redstone make it beautiful. That road between Schuenberg and La Grange belongs in this list as well.

I’m from San Antonio but haven’t been back in several years. I got to check it out. Apparently they have MOUNTAINS in Bandera now! Must be those wacky Schlitterbahn volks, ja?

  10. Thomas Thornhill on November 14, 2022 at 1:27 pm

I always thought that the best views in Texas were near the borders where you can see other states.

I can’t believe that the drive from Leakey to Vanderpool on Ranch Road 337 didn’t make the cut. Easily the most scenic drive in hill country.

Look…I’ve been through Texas… in fact, I’m still driving around…how big is this damn state?!

Everywhere I’ve been? Desert. Hot. Long… dry.. hot. Scrubby. Rattlesnakes. Hot. Spiders lizards, some flowers, cactus, rock, hot, roadside travel stops, fireworks, hot… scrubby. And bare

And oil rigs. And windmills. And cattle smelling death… and hot.

    And a beach.

    The end

  28. Dusty Wings Productions on November 14, 2022 at 1:51 pm

Just completed a ride on The Twisted Sisters: Farm Roads 335, 336, and 337 southwest of Kerrville. Absolutely stunning views. The ride from Medina back up to Kerrville was just as amazing.

  29. Texas Outdoor Fanatic on November 14, 2022 at 1:51 pm

As big and diverse as texas is why would you put the top 3 drives all in the same little area of the state.

The beautiful woods drives of East Texas, the Davis mountains, the area near Guadalupe peak, some of the coastal drives, etc

This list dropped the ball hard lol

  30. Jane on November 14, 2022 at 1:51 pm

Lived in Austin & spent lots of time driving the roads in this area. Bluebonnets & other TX wildflowers are beautifully spectacular in spring. & stopping at Enchanted Rock gives you time to pause for a picnic. & if you’re like my hubby, he heads for a climb on Enchanted Rock if he’s got all his climbing gear, ropes, & shoes with him.

  36. David Cook on November 14, 2022 at 1:58 pm

I’m a Texan, born and raised, and as long as I’ve lived in this great state of ours, I’ve never even come close to seeing it all. That’s why I love TCR! Helps me to see places in my beloved Texas that I’d probably never see, otherwise.

  37. mike huffman on November 14, 2022 at 1:59 pm

East Texas has many beautiful roads, but the Hill Country has my favorites.

  38. Natasha Ford on November 14, 2022 at 1:59 pm

Hi, have planning for a while to visit Texas country side for a while, but the Covid 19 nightmare prevented me from going . This is my only comfort for now , I hope we get a vaccine soon , 😣😣😣

  39. 40mmrrsmith on November 14, 2022 at 2:00 pm

Why do these list always leave out west Texas/Big Ben area? Love the Hill Country, go there often. But Big Ben is bigger and better.

  40. Anita Hamlin on November 14, 2022 at 2:01 pm

I enjoyed this and have been enjoying learning more about areas in Texas! Need to plan my own road trip as I have only gone through the pan handle.

  46. Darren Brown on November 14, 2022 at 2:04 pm

Hill Country is great, but the Big Bend area is better! Big Bend Ranch State Park is amazing! The Chisos in Big Bend are awesome. Guadalupe Mountains National Park is incredible.

  47. Dinoxt12 on November 14, 2022 at 2:04 pm

What scenery ??? Go to Montana if you want to see scenery at it’s BEST !

  48. Paul H on November 14, 2022 at 2:07 pm

Folks, the ones on this list are beautiful, but none of these in this video deserve to be in the top 3, although State Hwy 16 from Medina to Kerrville (Bandera Pass) would be in my top 10. Here is my top 3:

    1. The El Camino Del Rio (RR 170 from Terlingua to Presidio.)
    2. Chisos Basin Road (Green Gulch, Big Bend)
    3. Davis Mountains Scenic Loop (State Hwy 166 and State Hwy 118 west of Fort Davis)
    – Honorable Mention: Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive (Big Bend)
    – Honorable Mention: The Twisted Sisters (FM 335, FM 336 and FM 337 from Medina to Camp Wood.)
