The Craziest Pier Fishing in America: Sebastian Pier, Florida

The Craziest Pier Fishing in America: Sebastian Pier, Florida

The Sebastian Fishing Pier is one of the craziest pier fishing hot spots in the whole country. Pier fishing can be one of the funnest ways to experience fishing. At this pier, dozens of anglers lined up with live shrimp on their hooks eager to catch themselves the BIG one. The waters here are filled with monstrous sized fish just waiting to be caught. Its a true test of MAN VS BEAST.

*DISCLAIMER*
If you plan on fishing this spot because of this video, you need to understand that there are many unspoken rules of this inlet, and that you need to be respectful of other fishermen. Spend some time observing, talking and asking questions before you even cast out. Watch how other fishermen fish with each other. And seriously make an effort not to tangle up anyone’s lines. It may be intimidating, but people there are willing to help if they see you putting time and effort in learning.

Try tying a palomar knot, much stronger than the improved clinch knot.

I happened upon your Mexican beach fishing videos, and was watching one, but looked down, and there is was: Sebastian Inlet: craziest pier fishing in America! Superlatives for my family’s favorite beach when I was a child! My dad used to fish the jetty, but back then, there wasn’t even a concrete pad on top of the riprap. He’d just climb over rocks until he found a good spot, and fish. I hope to do the same, from the now highly-developed jetty-pier, if I get the opportunity to give living there again a try. That incredible surf sounds so beautiful. And you can catch really good fish from there, can’t you?

Wow I’m jelous for no been near that pier I live in New York my coworker and I go fishing in a pier in Brooklyn in veterans memorial pier and also we go to Coney island pier on the veterans pier we don’t really catch fish because the pier is not long enough it’s open 24 7 and the one at coneyisland it’s open till 1 am and on that pier we bacicley catch all types of fish Wich is fun we normally use bunker clam and squid as bait we have never use live shrimp is hard to find live squid no even in the fish markets they carry only frozen shrimp we have never use the metal and a hook so I’m gonna try it and see how it goes

  46. Mcfirefly2 on February 9, 2020 at 11:42 pm

Jacks can be infected with a bacteria that leave the food with what is called a ciguatoxin. The jacks, and other susceptible fish, are most likely to be infected in the Bahamas, about as close as ciguatoxin is prevalent, and in some other places further away. But the Bahamas is pretty close to Florida, so you are still taking something of a chance eating the jacks you catch there. That, and the fact that it is somewhat fishy, is probably what gives it its trash fish reputation. But many people who catch them, eat them gratefully: see Landshark, etc.
