this is why i never let bow hunters on my ranch….. regardless of how good they think they are the lost animals they have to pay for always pizzes them off,,, but it’s an economic loser for the ranch owner…. you want to bow hunt buy your f……. ranch

  2. Chad Holt on January 26, 2023 at 9:43 pm

First time I’ve ever seen a guy tracking deer in flip flops.

  3. Shane Seaford on January 26, 2023 at 9:43 pm

Looked like lung shot to Eric

  4. Hushin on January 26, 2023 at 9:45 pm

Always learning…at the end of the video we share a take away Landon told us that he learned from his dad about whitetail deer and then ducking in certain positions vs others.

  5. Tony Allen on January 26, 2023 at 9:46 pm

To the ranch fairy is going to hit the roof if he see,s this
Using lite arrows should be illegal. It sounded like a dry fire, no wonder it moved so much.

  6. Jay Vnuk on January 26, 2023 at 9:49 pm

Definitely sux but u would be amazed what those axis deer survive from. Wrkd at my uncles wild game processing shop near there (NW of San Antonio) n we would find old wounds, whole arrows, etc inside n scarred over in those deer. Definitely a hearty animal. Sorry for ur loss though,.

  7. Tyler Schoening on January 26, 2023 at 9:49 pm

A lot of guys would just blame the whole thing on the deer jumping the string, a lot of respect for Eric admitting is was a marginal shot to begin with. Great video guys!

  8. Joseph Tucker on January 26, 2023 at 9:50 pm

When are y’all going to invite to tag along? Great content gentlemen keep it up!

  9. Shane Seaford on January 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

At first I thought it was lung but second look it looked a little higher

  10. benny seror on January 26, 2023 at 9:52 pm

    I am not a hunter.
Does a more powerful bow could make a difference, and killed the dear?

  11. jayson J Medeiros on January 26, 2023 at 9:53 pm

Love the vids..you guys need to get to Hawaii..let’s hunt

  12. Thomas on January 26, 2023 at 9:54 pm

I really hope an effort was made to find that deer and if not kill it at least make sure it was gonna be ok if injured and not just die somewhere. The video was good and this could happen to anyone of course I’m just not sure what one would do in this situation

  13. clarence decoite on January 26, 2023 at 9:57 pm

With those big boys I like to aim for the bottom of the heart to bad that was a really good buck

  14. Big Woods Outdoors Tactical on January 26, 2023 at 9:57 pm

Insane how much they drop like the most spooky eastern whitetail. Awesome video and content as always guys! Always love the videos keep up the amazing work!

  15. Michael Masko on January 26, 2023 at 9:58 pm

I enjoy seeing you guys hunt all these different animals. I do not get the chance to hunt all that much these days. I hope that will change as my little one gets older. I need to be a daddy first. Can we get a tour of the place the Casey works out of? Also can you guys do a video talking about your favorite animals that you have taken since you all have started working with one and other?

  16. Dan Stevens on January 26, 2023 at 9:59 pm

Troughs, blinds and feeders. Farm deer

  17. LUNGBUSTER CRNVR on January 26, 2023 at 9:59 pm

Come OFF those mechanicals guys! Though they fly like field points, they are sooooooo notorious for LACK of penetration on marginal or hard quarterin shots! Had that had been a cut on contact you would have most likely cut the spine or atleast the femoral artery and that Buck would have been goin home witcha. Trust me I’ve shot atleast half a dozen different mechanicals and had success with them but BY FAR I have had MORE consistent success with Cut on contacts!

  18. Joseph Stollsteimer on January 26, 2023 at 10:01 pm

Bummer on that last buck you couldn’t find

  19. Nathan Neuherz on January 26, 2023 at 10:01 pm

Dude my phone turns on Siri all the time and it scared the crap out of me😂

  20. Hunting The Outdoors on January 26, 2023 at 10:01 pm

This is one of the many lessons my father had taught to me, that not every hunt is successful, but enjoying your time in nature and the experience is what it’s all about! Hope yall smoke a big one next time around!

  21. Ibi Ismail on January 26, 2023 at 10:02 pm

What was the reason for the low penetration, and I see a lot of people talking about ‘adult arrows’ what’s that? I don’t know anything about archery 😂

  22. River Right Outdoors on January 26, 2023 at 10:06 pm

Amazing, boom, well done fellas ….

  23. Adam Taylor on January 26, 2023 at 10:06 pm

What stabilizer are you using in the blind? Sorry to bother with this as I’m sure you get a LOT of gear questions… I’m looking for something low pro that can be offset

  24. Wesley Rhoads on January 26, 2023 at 10:09 pm

Get on the FOC band wagon for more penetration. It will even make your bow more quite at the release. It is amazing how much difference it makes. Yes you lose speed but if you can’t penetrate what good does that do. You owe it to the animal.

  25. Kneel B4 Zod on January 26, 2023 at 10:11 pm

You taught us all a lesson man! Most know to aim low but you taught us to aim even lower. Thank you!

  26. Justin Cowley on January 26, 2023 at 10:12 pm

Never shoot when their head is down…. heard that all my life. I tried it last yr at 12 yds and the doe completely ducked my arrow… the still frame shows the arrow about 3inches over her back and her chest almost on the ground.

  27. UrMom on January 26, 2023 at 10:12 pm

What camera tripod are you using in the blind?

  28. Moneyandtime Freedom on January 26, 2023 at 10:14 pm

Time for some adult arrows and time with the Ranch a Fairy and The Ashby Foundation.

  29. garvin gibbins on January 26, 2023 at 10:14 pm

Need to go to fixed blade heads. You will have a tough time on elk with those heads this fall. Sorry you lost your stag.

  30. Bay_with_dog on January 26, 2023 at 10:17 pm

Why not search with dog? It is good hunting practice in Europe.

  31. Tim Mccartney on January 26, 2023 at 10:18 pm

Archery spot and stalk north western SD mule deer and whitetails sept 1st opening day

  32. Shane Edens on January 26, 2023 at 10:20 pm

@hushin you should check out growing deer tv on youtube episode 462 i beleive. Dr. Woods done a video on deer dropping out of the way of an arrow. He talks about when the head is down vs. up. He done an excellent job and has hopefully helped a lot of hunters be more successful. it sucks to wound an animal and not know whether it survived or died. been there and know the feeling. yall do a great job representing the hunters. keep up the great videos.

  33. Aaron Vaught on January 26, 2023 at 10:20 pm

Make sure their head is up. They wont drop hardly any once the head is up

  34. Daniel Roberts on January 26, 2023 at 10:21 pm

Tough break man! That’s hunting though. Still an awesome trip! Thanks for filming!

  35. EC Outdoors on January 26, 2023 at 10:23 pm

This series was fun to watch! So happy to see that both of you were able to harvest a buck that’s so awesome! Man I’m sorry you weren’t able to find your buck Eric. can’t wait for the season to start it’s going to be epic! Awesome video!

  36. Bryan on January 26, 2023 at 10:25 pm

Ranch Fairy Ranch Fairy Ranch Fairy…

  37. Richard Adams on January 26, 2023 at 10:26 pm

having been born and raised in Texas, I would add a caveat to Brian’s comment about the opportunity to hunt. That is IF you own land to hunt on. 99+% of land in Texas is private land. No access = no hunting.

  38. ThePikoflex on January 26, 2023 at 10:26 pm

Quick question here: I`m not familiar with the laws in Texas (or the US for that matter), but arent you bound by law to persue and kill an animal that has been wounded? The hunting laws where i`m from strictly states that the hunt is not over until the animal has been found and taken care of (either put down or found dead). You are even allowed to enter someone elses land (you should notify them ofc.) to persue an injured animal. If you after a certain ammount of time cant find the injured animal yourself, the "case" i sent over to the state and or Police depending on what type of game you injured. (different ways to handle predatory game (Bears, lynx etc.)

Anyways, good luck on the next hunts and lets hope the land owner (or anyone) finds the injured deer.

  39. David Chenault on January 26, 2023 at 10:27 pm

Scariest segment was the chair breaking, almost! My heart sank when that buck dropped, much like yours did I’m sure. That would take some serious discipline to aim lower just in anticipation of him dropping like that at the very last moment before impact. Excellent footage and good take away as always. Invaluable. Looking forward to many more episodes.

  40. Desmond Acosta on January 26, 2023 at 10:28 pm

That’s unfortunate you weren’t able to recover your buck. Next time.

  41. Jerry Slaugh on January 26, 2023 at 10:29 pm

I think the buck will be just fine.

  42. Bowhunting RadNek on January 26, 2023 at 10:29 pm

Thank for sharing the hunt. The head down thing is real for sure because for a deer to duck, it must first lower its head. If its head is already lowered, its already got a jump on the duck. I stalked within 60 yards of a feeding axis doe about 2 months ago, set up my video cam, pulled back and let er fly. The arrow was perfectly on target but with her head down feeding, she was already ducking within a split second of the shot. By the time the arrow reaches her, she is tucking her butt under with the arrow passing just behind her butt. I have never see a deer react so fast to get out of the way of an arrow. I’m shooting a 440 gran arrow at 290’/sec. That’s some quick reaction time.

  43. Garden Corn Robber on January 26, 2023 at 10:31 pm

7:15 best part of the whole video. Cheap chairs. Broken more then one myself.

  44. William Ellison on January 26, 2023 at 10:34 pm

Looks like you hit no mans land. Just above the lungs but below the spine. The fact that you didn’t punch through tells me you need a heavier arrow/broadhead setup. Lose some speed but punch through and the lower speed often makes the bow a bit quieter.

  45. CaydenD1825 on January 26, 2023 at 10:37 pm

My dad has that happen with a whitetail he shot and the buck ducked and the arrow shot clean right over him. On the bright side I guys are going hone with 2 beautiful bucks! Good job guys

  46. Joe Kutschenreuter on January 26, 2023 at 10:38 pm

    Thanks for sharing. Great video.

  47. Nelson on January 26, 2023 at 10:39 pm

  48. p. green on January 26, 2023 at 10:40 pm

What a waste of a good hunt, good axis and a suffering animal. Shame shame.
