Ruben, this was super helpful! Caught my first ever speckled trout because of this video along with another of your surf fishing videos! Got into them near Jamaica Beach with shrimp.
Is it good to use a spoon at the small rock jetties in Galveston beach for speckled trout and Spanish mackerel?
The best fish in the surf is on the second sandbar. I gave up wade fishing in the surf due to sharks.
How’s the seaweed and mosquitos? Is it bad right now?
I live in Daytona Beach Florida and I haven’t been on the beach yet this year do to shark problems 🦈
Was at terramar beach July 20-24. Tons of seaweed. No bait in the water. Talked to several other fisherman and only one had any luck. Few sharks and gaftop. We finally caught some 8” mullet Friday night and used as cut bait. Caught some gaftop Saturday morning but that was it. Fished Seawolf park on that Thursday morning. And nothing.
Waded on the left as we drove in and along the wall by submarine. Only one guy had caught a rat red.
Very disappointing since everything I was seeing the few weeks before that the surf was on fire and plenty people catching.
Had an older couple that lived there walking the beach were we where staying and he said he had never seen the water the way it was. Or the amount of seaweed.
Guess it’s just my luck.
