Kayaking Lake Tahoe's Secret Cove |The Motorhome Experiment

Class A Motorhome RV Living: Season 4 EP051 July 26, 2019 Get more of our stuff at http://themotorhomeexperiment.com/.

In this episode, we explore Lake Tahoe’s Sand Harbor on our last day in the Lake Tahoe area.

This was our longest kayaking adventure yet at around 6 miles.

The water was a beautiful turquoise color and not exactly what we would call refreshing, but we found ourselves jumping in anyway!

We got to see the Thunderbird Lodge and Thunderbird Yacht as we paddled our way over to the Secret Cove. Not so Secret Cove is what it should be called!

We also paddled past Chimney Beach and around Bonzai Rock.

We had an incredible day and look forward to getting back to Lake Tahoe in the future!

Isn’t that where Fredo sleeps with the fishes and at the beginning going by the Humprock, oh what do you think that shape was for okay so I am being just a little fresh for those that don’t get it. Now you have a reason to go back and you know what. I just couldn’t help myself trying to be a comedian so people don’t get to upset.

Nice that the Nevada side has been preserved. I hate crowds. Is there RV space in the South parking lot? That yacht looks to be Teak, sure would have been nice to have a closer look. Guess you guys will have to book a room so we can get a better view of it, good excuse don’t you think??. LOL

  12. WT Weathers on June 30, 2020 at 6:51 pm

Another great video Paul and Lorena!!
Can you believe we live 2 hours from Tahoe and have not taken the sea doo in the 2 years that we’ve owned it? The weekend crowds keep me away. I need to take it there before it starts getting cold.

Sand Harbor is the Premier Beach location at Tahoe. I’m glad you guys found it.

  24. Dr Dentin on June 30, 2020 at 7:09 pm

Between Sand Harbor and Thunderbird (favoring the Thunderbird lodge) is a little cove with a large round that lays flat. Mark Twain talks about cooking and playing cards on that rock in the book Roughing It. If you go back you should check it out. If the lake is high it might be covered.

Fun, creative look at that side of Lake Tahoe. Beautiful. The Thunderbird yacht intrigued me. Did some research ….gorgeous 55′ mahogany vessel. Apparently the boathouse is 100′ long! Neat piece of nautical history 👍
