Doesn’t know how to hold a paddle so gets a paddle leash (in whitewater), AND paddles alone with the wrong helmet. You are a liability to yourself, please attend an intro to whitewater class before you get hurt.

Very cool. Like @Yaiyasmin I love the different angles too! Looked like a fun afternoon. I’ve never done that river before but it looks like a good one.

I spent many summers in New Hampshire as a kid but haven’t gotten back in far too long. Can’t wait to get back in August – awesome video! How was that GoPro mounted to the kayak?

What class 5 drop are you talking about? Which river is it on?

Whitewater 101. NEVER use a paddle leash on Whitewater. It is a safety hazard and folks have drowned becoming entangled in it. Think about being a swimmer with your boat full of water pulling you downstream by your leg tangled in the leash. Or how about being pinned in a hole with the leash wrapped around your neck while the paddle is being held under by the hydraulic. The potential bad scenario’s are damn near endless. Plus you are far more likely to break a paddle especially if your boat fills with water and the paddle gets stuck in the rocks/trees etc. Buy a spare breakdown paddle and ditch the leash. I’ll leave it to others to comment on the forward stroke technique.

Seriously… a paddle leash on your paddle in whitewater, the paddle is upside down btw. I’m curious why you edited out the nice swim in the hole… you know the one where you lost the leash and sunglasses.
