Orvis has completely redesigned the Mirage USA line of reels. The new Mirage LT is 30% lighter and 30% narrower than the old reels and features a ton of new engineering and whole new design. We’re excited about the new LT from Orvis and you should be too. We put The Mirage LT II head to head with the older version, the Mirage USA II. Tune in to see how Orvis has redesigned one of our favorite reels to make it even fishier.

Thanks for the info and post…whats your opinion, or have you done a review of Cheeky?…only because I got one from Trout Unlimited:)

I think some people might find this a little misleading in that both are current reels and, as far as I’m aware, the LT isn’t replacing the Mirage (USA) both of which are made in the USA. There’s also a difference in the size range, with the LT going up to a size IV only. I have an LT size IV and find that turning the drag to about 5 o’clock give more than enough drag to stop a 20lb carp, and taking it to 7 o’clock pretty much locks the reel up. It’s definitely a light reel though, and with line and backing is still lighter than my old Mirage IV without line and backing ! (the actual old one: Made in Asia). I’d also say it’s better finished than my Hatch Finatic gen 2!
