Walking Holidays from Wild Frontiers

Walking Holidays from Wild Frontiers

Unlike many walking and trekking holidays on the market, the basic premise of our walking trips is to give our clients a great balance of cultural highlights and good walks. We feel typical trekking holiday all too often focus too much on the trail and as a result miss many of the regions amazing cultural sites. Similarly cultural adventures can be guilty of spending too much time in vehicles, not giving participants enough activity among a regions beautiful landscapes. Our walking holidays are therefore designed to give the best of both worlds, perfectly balancing great walks with a region’s cultural highlights.
Walking is one of the most satisfying ways to explore dramatic landscapes and appreciate nature in all its glory. Whether walking through the Simien Mountains of Ethiopia, the Kashmiri Himalayas, The Alborz Mountains of Iran, or the Carpathians, Caucasus, or Torus Mountains in Europe, you are sure to marvel at the magnificent mountain landscapes. But all these region also have amazing cultural sites to explore, which shouldn’t be missed.
We have a portfolio of walking holidays therefore that focus on regions where dramatic natural landscapes sit side by side with interesting history and culture. Aimed more at walkers than trekkers the trips combine walking with sightseeing and other cultural interaction. Our walking holiday in Georgia for example involves 2 ½ days of walking, including a walk over a high pass in the Caucasus, sandwiched by 5 days enjoying many cultural highlights the country has to offer. Our walking holiday in Kashmir will see our groups enjoy 4 days of walking in the stunning Himalayas with three days relaxing on the beautiful lakes around Srinagar. In Iran we’ll walk in the valley of the Assassins, in a region rarely visited by tourists, yet also spend time in Tehran and Tabriz. And whilst our walking holiday in Romania will see us walk every days – from a couple of hours to half the day – we’ll also get to explore Saxon villages, painted monasteries, markets and medieval towns.
And then just for good measure every now and again we will throw in a truly epic walking adventure – like our K2 Concordia base camp trek which we do every year here in Pakistan to raise money for the Wild Frontiers Foundation.
